One of my all time favorite bands has a new record coming out soon and I thought that I might have to share that information with you seeing as I write for a music blog and all.

The band: Halloween Alaska

The new record:  Champagne Downtown

Release date: April 7th

I am so excited about this new record. They are an incredible electronic pop (for lack of a better genre title) band based out of minneapolis, featuring the percussion of Dave King (The Bad Plus, Love- Cars, Happy Apple, Gang Font just to name a few.) I celebrate their entire catalogue and I think that you will too if you haven’t already.

A hometown CD release show has been announced for April 10 at First Avenue and I am pissed off that I won’t be able to make it to it. Hopefully one of you will be able to and will send me some photos!

New track from the new record:

Not the coolest video but a great song…

Love them or hate them, the Decemberists have a new album that drops tomorrow. Its called “Hazards of Love.” Personally I have never been that excited by all of their stuff, but everything I have heard from this new album is pretty exciting.

Looking forward to hearing the rest of the record. Here is a sample (yes I know I have already posted this track):

Dimlite + Richard Eigner, «Kalimba Lifeswamp»-Improv by Chris M

“Dimlite w/ Richard Eigner (Ritornell) on drums, beaming out an improv (afterwards named «Kalimba Lifeswamp»), during a Dimlite show on a lovely boat on an austrian river in summer 2008.”

A live version of a track entitled “Kalimba Lifeswamp” from Dimlite’s “Prismic Valuta Rising” album that has unfortunately been shelved for the time being.

Mindestens 5 people must wonder: «What happened to the «Prismic Valuta Rising»-album, I thought it was going to ‘come out in spring 2009′?». I really have no exciting answer… scrunched… lots of questions are boring, and lots of answers are too. All the tracks and songs that made «Prismic…» are safely stored, and some of them will see a proper release as part of
A DIFFERENT ALBUM («Sun-sized Twinkles» per example will make it onto that new one), and some will end up where they belong…. the album went out to a bunch of people in form of a mixtape. Thank Q they kept it safe (thank you!), and thank Q they didn’t keep it too safe (thank you again!). DON’T GO, Please bear with me for point 3!

……damn. Can’t wait for when it really happens.
