John Updike was the great American novelist. He won the Pulitzer Prize twice for his novels Rabbit is Rich and Rabbit at Rest. He also wrote The Witches of Eastwick (later turned into a terrible movie with Cher and Jack Nicholson). He died on Tuesday, January 27, 2009.

the loss of John Updike makes me wonder if the literary world is being replenished at the same rate that it’s losing such great writers
